Job description

The Laboratory of the Animal Nutrition Chair Group (ANU) is looking for a Chemical Analyst (Full-time, 38 hours/week)
As a chemical analyst, you will be responsible for conducting chemical analyses for the Animal Nutrition Chair Group.

Your tasks and responsibilities as a chemical analyst include:
  • Supporting BSc, MSc, and PhD students in performing analyses as part of their thesis and research;
  • Supervising laboratory practicals;
  • Working with and improving the laboratory information system.

In the long run, there are opportunities for career growth into a leadership role within the laboratory of the Animal Nutrition Chair Group.

About Us
The Animal Nutrition Chair Group is part of the Department of Animal Sciences at Wageningen University & Research. The chair group provides education and conducts research in the field of animal nutrition to improve animal production, health, and welfare in a sustainable way, thereby enhancing quality of life. The chair group has a chemical laboratory for analyzing sample material obtained from research.

Requirements

You are an enthusiastic and flexible employee who enjoys working in a team. You work accurately according to established protocols. You are open to new techniques and methods, eager to learn, and motivated to develop yourself further. You can quickly switch between various tasks. Experience and skills in managing staff are a plus.

Additionally, you possess:
  • A completed Higher Laboratory Education (HLO) degree or a Secondary Laboratory Education (MLO) degree with proven experience;
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English;
  • Affinity with IT systems related to a laboratory;
  • A proactive approach to continuously improving our processes.

In our international working environment, English is increasingly used for communication. For this position, a B2 language level in English is required. If you do not yet meet this level, we will naturally support you, and you can take courses at our language center, Wageningen in’to Language.

The laboratory team consists of 9 people, and the entire chair group comprises approximately 75 colleagues

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3.218,- and €3.707,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 8, step 1-3). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
