Job description

We are looking for a communication officer for a 0.2 FTE position (7 months) to cover a maternity leave. In this role, you will contribute to the visibility of education and research at the Section Space, Place and Society (SPS) and the Centre for Space, Place and Society (CSPS).

The research groups within the SPS Section, including the research groups Health and Society, Sociology of Development and Change, Rural Sociology, and Consumption and Healthy Lifestyle, each have their own website as well as a shared website. As a communication officer, you will provide content for these websites and create and post messages on social media.

Additionally, you will support communication activities related to projects, education, summer schools, acquisition, and publications.

Your tasks will include:
Websites and Blogs:
  • Managing and keeping WUR websites up to date: HSO, RSO, SDC, CSPS (writing and maintaining content).
  • Weekly maintenance of blogs (writing and posting content).

Communication Projects:
  • Supporting communication activities related to various summer schools.
  • Supporting colleagues with communication questions and encouraging them to communicate their work.
  • Managing communication for CSPS, including:
    • Writing and sending the CSPS newsletter (bi-weekly).
    • Creating and distributing posters and flyers for events and courses.

Social Media and Narrowcasting:
  • Managing social media platforms: creating, collecting, posting, and maintaining content.
  • Providing input for narrowcasting in various WUR buildings.

Point of Contact and Visual Communication:
  • Acting as a point of contact for a broad range of communication-related questions.
  • Developing visuals for colleagues for courses, grant applications, projects, and publications.
  • Maintaining contact with SSG and Resource.

Requirements

  • You have completed an HBO degree in communication or have comparable experience.
  • You have a good command of both Dutch and English.
  • You have strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • You have experience in website management and actively maintaining social media.
  • You are able to work independently and are proactive.
  • You are a team player who dares to make decisions and take responsibility.

In our international work environment, communication is increasingly done in English. For this role, a C1 language level is required.

You will find enough challenges in this role. Even if you do not yet have the exact track record mentioned in the job description, but you do have solid work experience, we encourage you to apply.

Where you will work:
The Section Space, Place, and Society (SPS) focuses on issues of socio-spatial and ecological justice. We translate critically constructive knowledge into practical and political action in the pursuit of a more just, sustainable, and healthy world.

Conditions of employment

When it comes to working conditions, you are in good hands at Wageningen University & Research. Some highlights from our collective labor agreement (CAO) include:
  • Sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave.
  • Working hours that can be adjusted in consultation to achieve an optimal work-life balance.

  • A strong focus on vitality, and access to on-campus sports facilities at an attractive rate.
  • A structural year-end bonus of 8.3%.
  • Excellent pension scheme via ABP.

Along with these excellent secondary benefits, we also offer a competitive salary. Depending on your experience, the salary will range from €2,899 to €3,809 for a full-time 38-hour workweek (scale 7, according to the CAO for Dutch Universities).
