Here's how you will make a difference
As associate lector responsible AI, you conduct research on the ethical and social impact of AI and connect education with research on this topic.
You coordinate and manage projects that facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange of research, education and practice. Research on how AI impacts creative producers and end-users and on social values (such as autonomy, non-discrimination). You independently conduct complex practice-based research with an interdisciplinary approach.
To ensure the continuity of the lectorate, you write the proposals for the 2nd and 3rd funding streams. In this fast changing world, you assist with the curricula development and initiate plus direct the content development of new education.
To enhance our internal- and external position, you build, maintain and expand contacts with external parties, potential clients and relevant (international networks).
As our associate lector responsible AI, you represent the lectorate, for example at conferences or by giving lectures. Additionally, you publish in scientific- and professional magazines and publications.

At our campus in the heart of Amsterdam, the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries prepares students to enter a highly diverse and international field. We offer staff and students myriad avenues to explore; from media and communication to digital design, IT and fashion. We collaborate closely with the creative industry and a large network of partner institutions all over the world, e.g. via working groups and our Centres of Expertise.
The lectorate responsible IT, researches AI and digital technology, on how to use and develop these in relation to society and ethical issues. We develop algorithms, prototypes and development methodologies in order to understand individual, ethical and social impact of the technology. This is based on specific social topics and together with residents, developers, designers, activists, professionals, governmental officials, students and teachers. The majority of our research is focussed on the public sector, media and the creative industry. Our faculty employs approximately 1000 employees (700 fte).
