Research Technician Toxicology

Do you want to contribute to the development of animal-free methods for assessing the toxic effects and kinetics of substances in humans and animals? Read on, because the Toxicology Team of Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) is looking for a research technician.

What are you going to do?
Our team develops, validates and applies New Approach Methodologis (NAMs) - non-animal methods based on e.g. cell-based in vitro methods or computer models and state-of-the-art molecular and analytical techniques - to assess potential hazards of substances in food and animal feed. As a research technician you will contribute to the further development and implementation of these animal-free approaches. You will primarily be involved in cell-based studies on the effects and kinetics (such as the metabolism and transport) of substances.

• you are a researcher with a bachelor level (BSc) or higher in life sciences (e.g. toxicology, biochemistry, pharmacology);
• you have experience with (mammalian) cell culturing;
• though not essential, skills and knowledge in toxicology and analytical chemistry (e.g. LC-MS) are a plus;
• you effectively communicate in English or Dutch, and preferentially both;
• you are a team player with a hands-on attitude. You are accurate, result oriented, well-organized, have on open attitude and are willing to learn.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B2.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €2979,- and €4374,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 7 - 8).

Additionally, For this role a contract for 32 hours a week can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended on good performance. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
