Job description

Serving as the linchpin in the running of the Department, the Department Coordinator is not only a full member of the Department’s Executive Committee but also its driving force in the implementation and operation of Departmental strategy. The Department Coordinator serves as the connection between internal and external stakeholders and works closely together with the Department Chair. The Department Coordinator also contributes to relevant Faculty-wide initiatives and interacts closely with the Faculty’s Managing Director.

Requirements

Tasks and duties
  • Supporting and advising the Department Chair and the Executive Committee.
  • Co-developing the Department strategy within the context of the Faculty Strategy and coordinating its implementation. For example,
  • Coordination of the yearly update of the Multi-Annual Plan
  • Supporting the annual Department Budget and its implementation
  • Communication of Department plans to various stakeholders and participants
  • Supporting and monitoring the implementation of the finance strategy of the Department
  • Representing the Department and coordinating its input, actions and responses to various Faculty-wide initiatives and Task & Finish groups, such as
  • Housing, refurbishment and other estate-related plans
  • Liaising as required with Faculty colleagues from HR, Finance, Marketing & Communication and Research Support
  • In collaboration with the Department’s Management Assistants, organising meetings of the Executive Committee and the Department Board, the CEM Day and other relevant meetings, taking minutes and following up on actions as and when required
  • Dutch language level is at the least B2 (or the intension to learn Dutch B2 level as soon as possible).

Conditions of employment

  • A dynamic position for 24 hours per week.
  • Based on the needs of the organization, the job profile will be further refined.
  • The salary for a full-time appointment, depending on education and experience, ranges from a minimum of €3,546 to a maximum of €5,538 gross per month (scale 10, depending on education and experience).

Department

Civil Engineering and Management is a Department within the Faculty of Engineering Technology but also with close links to the Social Sciences. The Department is responsible for delivering BSc and MSc courses in Civil Engineering, and operates across the three main themes of Construction, Transport and Water. The Department has around 50 academics distributed over nine Chairs.
