Job description

As a junior researcher, you will be directly involved in various cost-effectiveness analyses both within and outside the hospital. The projects you will be working on will primarily be in the field of oncology. Key responsibilities include developing decision analytic models, collecting and analyzing healthcare utilization data, extracting suitable data from the literature and perform qualitative research to inform your analysis. You will work under the supervision of experienced researchers in the HTA field. The projects will always take place in collaboration with (clinical) content experts and researchers who have investigated the interventions based on their clinical outcomes. As a team, we also teach within various bachelor’s and master’s programs for which you may be asked to contribute.

Requirements

You are an enthusiastic researcher with strong analytical skills. An affinity for healthcare and/or health economics is important. Furthermore, you are not afraid of a challenge and are motivated to (learn to) work with statistical software (such as R). With your strong communication skills, you can bridge the gap between economic models and medical practice. You have a proactive and independent attitude and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. You communicate clearly and can explain complex materials in simple terms. When performing multiple tasks simultaneously, you are able to maintain an overview and not lose sight of the goal(s). You demonstrate initiative and are results oriented. You enjoy working independently and as part of a team.
  • You have completed a master’s degree in health sciences, health economics, data science, epidemiology, econometrics, or another (quantitative) field. We also invite you to apply if you have a medical background with a strong epidemiological and/or data analysis profile.
  • You are able to take responsibility for the projects you conduct and are motivated to complete them successfully with high quality.
  • You are proficient in speaking and writing in English.

Interested? Applications will be considered until 15 December 2025. Interviews will take place on January 7,8 and 9, 2025.

Conditions of employment

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 3.598,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

Department

You will be working in the Health Economic Evaluation team, which is part of the Epidemiology and Health Economics department of the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care.
