Do you have knowledge of radioactivity and its analysis? Are you able to find a good balance between organizational and team needs? Are you someone who can connect stakeholders?
We, Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), are looking for a Project Leader Radioactivity. Will you be our new colleague?Please note; given the interactions with certain stakeholders, fluency in Dutch is essential. Applying without fluency in Dutch will be a reason for rejection.
What will you do?As a project leader and expert in radioactivity at WFSR, you will focus on the optimal functioning of your projects within the team. You ensure that deadlines are met and that clients are satisfied with the delivered results. You support team members where necessary so that they can successfully carry out their work for your projects.
Your tasks and responsibilities as project leader include:
- safeguarding the scientific and technical quality of the radiochemical analyses delivered by the team. You organize the work processes in such a way that the team can achieve optimal results, with everyone taking responsibility;
- monitoring the quality of project execution. You maintain oversight of all projects within the team, monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and adjust where needed;
- responsibility for the financial project results;
- ensuring the effective allocation of team members to projects, making sure the planned hours are managed;
- identifying opportunities for new research projects and acquiring new projects.
In addition, you will: - take part in national and international working groups or networks in the field;
- be part of the national crisis team;
- support the functioning of the National Monitoring Network for Radioactivity in Food (LMRV) and contribute to renewing this network.
For research involving radionuclides and equipment using ionizing radiation in other university departments, WUR holds a complex permit. Within the management group of this permit, there is also room for a coordinating or general coordinating expert (ACD). Depending on your educational background, this may also be a (future) responsibility for the project leader radioactivity.
Where will you work?Wageningen Food Safety Research conducts research into safe and reliable food. We are specialists in (forensic) measurement of large numbers of samples, and we develop analytical methods to detect unwanted substances in food. In the Contaminants-2 team, we analyze contaminants in food products, animal feed, and their raw materials. The main groups of contaminants are heavy metals, radioactive substances, and process contaminants such as acrylamide. We also develop new methods to detect these contaminants.
The team is part of the Contaminants & Toxicology business unit, which consists of six teams in total. Within this unit, in addition to contaminant research and routine analyses of food and feed, analytical-chemical research and the development of new chemical analysis methods are carried out. You will be working in the Radiochemical Analysis subteam.
