Job description

Wageningen Plant Research (WPR) is part of Wageningen University & Research. The Open Crops business unit within WPR is the key partner for applied research and innovations in arable farming, green spaces, and field-grown vegetables.

In addition to expert research teams, WPR has several experimental locations, some of which include greenhouses and laboratories. Together, these form the Experimental Farm.

To strengthen our teams in Lelystad, Westmaas, Vredepeel, and Valthermond, we are looking for Experimental Farm Staff.

The Open Crops business unit bridges the gap between fundamental scientific research and end users through applied, practice-oriented scientific research. We are looking for staff with practical and demonstrable experience in arable farming to set up, maintain, care for, and harvest the trials.

Requirements

  • Preferably a completed MBO education, for example in Arable and Horticultural Farming.
  • Work experience in trial field management and trial field techniques.
  • Good knowledge of crop care, crop protection, and fertilization.
  • Very good knowledge of arable farming.
  • Experience with field-grown vegetable cultivation is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Preferably living in the immediate area.

In our international work environment, more and more communication takes place in English. For this position, A2 level is required. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course support you, and you can make use of our language center, Wageningen in’to Language.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of max €2.697 to maximum €3.399,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 4-5). Additionally, For this role a contract for different hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
