The KB, National Library of the Netherlands, connects people and information to contribute to a smart, skilled and creative society. As a national knowledge institute, we actively participate in European research and innovation programmes and coordinate international EU-funded projects.
About CULTURAI
CULTURAI is a Horizon Europe project focused on AI development within the creative industries and research domain. The KB plays a coordinating role in a large international consortium and leads the development of the CULTURAI Competence Center.
As European Project Manager, you ensure successful delivery of the project — on time, within budget and fully compliant with EU regulations — in line with the Grant Agreement and impact objectives.
Your responsibilities
You oversee the organisational, financial and administrative management of the project and act as the central link between internal teams, consortium partners and the European Commission.
Project management
- Coordinate day-to-day project execution and internal stakeholders
- Monitor planning, milestones and deliverables
- Organise consortium meetings and reporting cycles
Financial & compliance oversight
- Monitor budgets and eligible costs
- Coordinate EU financial reporting with the project controller
- Ensure compliance with Horizon Europe rules (ethics, GDPR, open science, data management)
- Manage the Consortium Agreement and documentation
- Work with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal
Reporting & stakeholder engagement
- Prepare periodic reports and monitor KPIs and risks
- Act as contact point for the Project Officer
- Align diverse interests within a complex international consortium
- Safeguard impact, dissemination and exploitation objectives
Your profile
You are a structured, independent and proactive professional with strong organisational and communication skills. You are comfortable managing complexity in an international environment and know how to balance strategic oversight with operational execution.
You bring:
- At least 5 years of experience managing EU-funded projects (Horizon 2020 and/or Horizon Europe), including financial and administrative management
- Solid experience working with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and within large international consortia
- Thorough knowledge of EU compliance requirements, including ethics, GDPR, open science and data management
- Experience with strategic communication and event management
- Affinity with AI and technology, particularly in the context of research and creative industries
- PM2 and/or PRINCE2 certification
- Excellent written and spoken English
What we offer
- A temporary contract (for the duration of the project 2026–2030)
- Gross monthly salary in scale 12 (CAO Public Libraries): €5,942 – €7,641 (based on 40 hours), depending on experience
- 8% holiday allowance and 8.33% year-end bonus
- Pension scheme and attractive secondary benefits
- Hybrid working (50%)
