Job description

Are you an inspired teacher in the field of communication? Then we are looking for you! We are looking for a lecturer in our international Communication and Information Studies (CIS) program. CIS focuses on communication from a language perspective in the broadest sense: CIS is about text, talk, gestures, pictures, digital media, and more recently, generative AI.

What are you going to do?

You will teach courses in the Bachelor program of Communication and Information Studies. Those can be general academic skills courses, (qualitative/qualitative) methods courses but, depending on your expertise, also courses on persuasive communication, multimodality, conversation analysis or text analysis.

Requirements

  • You preferably hold or are working towards a PhD in a relevant domain of study (e.g., Communication Studies, Linguistics, Psychology with a focus on qualitative and/or quantitative methods, (e.g. text, discourse or conversation analysis, multimodal analysis, corpus-oriented studies)).
  • You have at least one year of relevant teaching experience and preferably relevant teaching qualifications (such as the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), in Dutch: BKO - Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs).
  • You like to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • You have the ability to communicate and teach in English (CEFR C1 level for reading, listening, writing, speaking),

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 0,8 FTE voor een jaar.

What can you expect from us?
  • 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
  • End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.
  • Extensive opportunities for personal and professional development.
