Job description

Do you want to apply your machine learning expertise to real-world challenges, working directly with companies on advanced AI solutions? As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will collaborate with organizations in Brabant to design, optimize, and scale AI workloads on state-of-the-art high-performance computing infrastructure. If you enjoy translating complex business and technical questions into robust, high-impact AI solutions in an international and interdisciplinary environment, we would like to meet you.

Artificial Intelligence is a key enabling technology for economic growth and societal progress, and a critical driver of transformation across industries, food systems, healthcare, energy, and security. Regions that invest early in high-quality computing infrastructure, talent development, and robust innovation ecosystems will define the competitive landscape of the future. Brabant benefits from excellent universities and universities of applied sciences, a strong technology-driven business community, and a favorable investment climate. However, significant potential remains untapped. By making targeted investments in High-Performance Computing and the development of applied AI expertise, the region can advance toward the level of Europe’s leading regions, further leverage its economic strengths, and position itself as a prominent AI hub.

To accelerate this ambition, Eindhoven University of Technology, Tilburg University, JADS the Province of North Brabant, and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) have joined forces in the AI Supercomputing Initiative Brabant (AI-SIB). This initiative provides Brabant-based companies, knowledge institutions, and public organizations with access to large-scale computing power and the associated expertise.

The AI Supercomputing Initiative Brabant is designed as an ambitious multi-year program running until December 31, 2027. The steering committee will decide on a possible continuation of the initiative.

Information
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to strengthen our AI support unit. You will collaborate closely with companies in this two-year project, helping companies translate their business questions into computational needs. We optimize their AI workloads on our NVIDIA DGX cluster called SPIKE, which includes optimizing training performance efficient scaling. If this collaboration is successful, there will be opportunities to continue working in this role together with the Brabant companies.

The job entails:
  • Collaborate with companies in the Brabant province to co-design, optimize, and scale AI workloads
  • Translate technical details to AI solution architecture
  • Profile and optimize GPU-based training workflows
  • Provide expert support for using our DGX system and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise stack
  • Give courses and presentations about ML engineering and the use of the SPIKE cluster in the Brabant AI community

Requirements

You are a skilled Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in optimizing and deploying AI workloads in HPC or cloud environments. You thrive in a collaborative, innovation-driven setting and enjoy translating complex computational needs into robust, scalable solutions. You are actively involved in the ML community and enjoy exploring cutting edge technologies.

Requirements for the job are:
  • Proven experience with machine learning and deep learning practices
  • Ability to turn AI models into robust, near production-ready endpoints
  • Experience working with HPC and/or AI platforms

Preferred:
  • Experience profiling GPU workloads and optimizing AI code for performance on HPC systems
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA DGX systems
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software (e.g., Triton, NGC, CUDA, DALI, NIM, NEMO, etc.)
  • Experience with NVIDIA Run AI or similar orchestration tools
  • Experience with Kubernetes for ML workloads
  • Strong knowledge of containerization
  • Experience with non-academic/commercial projects

If you are concerned that you don’t meet all the requirements sufficiently, but the job does excite you, then be sure to respond, we would love to look at your profile.
