Job description

Collaborate on the chemistry of the future. We are looking for a research assistant in automated peptide synthesis to support projects on developing large libraries of peptides and derivatives.

Our laboratory carries out several research projects involving the routine synthesis of large libraries of various peptides and peptide derivatives using automated synthesis techniques. As a research assistant, you will work closely with PhD candidates and postdocs to operate this automated synthesis platform. You will support ongoing projects and be responsible for the organisation and execution of peptide synthesis.

The diversity of molecules that we create in our laboratory often requires optimisation of the synthesis and reprocessing protocols. You will develop and optimise the necessary new synthesis and reprocessing protocols and will guide new students in the practical aspects of solid-phase peptide synthesis.

Requirements

  • You have a University of Applied Sciences or Master's degree in Organic Synthesis.
  • You have hands-on experience with solid-phase peptide synthesis.
  • You enjoy collaboration and employ a structured and careful approach.
  • You have experience with routine chemical analyses, in particular HPLC-MS.
  • You have an affinity for teaching and supervision.
  • You have a good command of English, both orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment

  • We will give you a temporary employment contract of one year with the prospect of an indefinite contract.
  • Your salary within salary scale 8 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.
  • You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus.
  • You will receive extra days off. With full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.

Additional employment conditions
Work and science require good employment practices. This is reflected in Radboud University's primary and secondary employment conditions. You can make arrangements for the best possible work-life balance with flexible working hours, various leave arrangements and working from home. You are also able to compose part of your employment conditions yourself, for example, exchange income for extra leave days and receive a reimbursement for your sports subscription. And of course, we offer a good pension plan. You are given plenty of room and responsibility to develop your talents and realise your ambitions. Therefore, we provide various training and development schemes.
