Job description

Creative Technology is concerned with networked smart objects, human interaction, and data analytics. It looks into the interfaces between humans and digital technology and how these are affected by one another. It investigates sensing, networking and interaction in the broadest sense, considering it in relation to digital technologies, networked smart systems, people’s experience and their practices with mobile, immersive, ubiquitous and pervasive computing.

Performing excellent research and education in the area of pervasive computing, sensor data analytics, and internet of things. The assistant professorship position in Pervasive Computing will focus on the design and analysis of collaborative smart wireless sensing systems and associated spatio-temporal sensor data analytics.

Education
You will be involved in the interdisciplinary programme Creative Technology. Smart technology, new media, and creating impact through design are keywords in this program. Throughout these English-taught programmes students will learn to creatively combine different technologies in order to create new solutions with real impact on people.

Research
Pervasive Systems are systems composed of a network of collaborative sensing, computational, and reasoning components that are highly embedded in and actively – yet unobtrusively – interact with the environment. These massively distributed networks of smart objects communicate with one another and analyse and interpret the immense amounts of low-level spatio-temporal information to produce a representation of the overall environment.

The impact
Situated at the core of the Internet of Things, our research has high societal and economic impacts in applications such as environmental monitoring, ecology, ambient assisted living, agriculture, transport and mobility, smart industry, supply chain management, and smart cities. Our system oriented research is inspired by real problems, which makes multi-disciplinary collaboration natural.
