Job description

The Erasmus Centre for Study and Career Success makes use of an intervention programme that has shown to be been extremely successful in raising students’ academic performance and retention rate. The goal of this intervention is to help as many students as possible to reach their full potential and to reduce gender and ethnicity inequality in universities, universities of applied sciences, and secondary education. The goal-setting project has been in effect at RSM since 2011 and is currently being rolled out at other faculties, universities and high schools. Through this intervention, the Centre aims to help the world reach for the stars.

The Centre’s activities mainly encompass the goal-setting intervention, largely focusing on the continuous development and improvement of this intervention and its distribution to other institutes. Furthermore, a large part of the Centre’s time is dedicated to collaborating with institutions that are willing and able to implement the intervention for further research, thereby facilitating this entire process and the aspects related to it (e.g., legal, finances).  In addition, the Centre is involved in preparations for events, presentations, and workshops about goal-setting in general or the intervention in specific. To that end, the Centre is looking for a manager.

As a manager you will be accountable for initiating, implementing, and monitoring the progress of multidisciplinary projects that organize the implementation of our intervention projects in organizations such as Erasmus University Rotterdam and other institutions. You are also responsible for defining the implementation projects, organising the projects and will coordinate the internal organisation of the Centre, as well as third parties and the employees working on the projects to realise the project’s goals within the boundaries of costs, quality and organisation and communication.  You will communicate about the progress of the projects with the director of the Centre. A large and critical part of this function is thus the aspect of people management.

Your main tasks:

•                    People management

•                    Being the linchpin within the team

•                    Keeping an overview of the projects and monitoring progress

•                    Fulfilling the role of intermediary between the director of the Centre and the project employees

•                    Guiding and supporting project employees (such as project coordinators, student assistants, and researchers)

•                    Developing the strategic direction for the upcoming years

•                    Managing the financial and legal aspects of the Centre

•                    Planning and structuring tasks

•                    Managing time

•                    Maintaining contact with participating or interested parties

•                    Managing the IT aspects of the project

•                    Acquiring new projects
