Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated student or post-doctoral fellow with significant biochemistry research experience to work in the Joo lab. The selected candidate will take a lead in a single-molecule project. The candidate will use single-molecule fluorescence and develop a new single-molecule protein analysis platform to investigate protein interactions.

Department
The Joo group (www.chirlmin.org) is a single-molecule biophysics research lab within the Department of Bionanoscience at the TU Delft. Using single-molecule fluorescence tools, we investigate how proteins interact with RNA, DNA, and proteins. We develop new single-molecule platforms such as massively parallel single-molecule fluorescence and single-molecule protein sequencing.

Requirements

The candidate should have a MSc or PhD degree in the field of biology or related. Research experiences in biochemistry is required. An application from a candidate who is experienced in cell biology will be favorably treated, but this is not a requirement. Good communication skills in English are required.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years (postdoc), 4 years (PhD).

For a PhD:
TU Delft offers PhD-candidates a 4-year contract, with an official go/no go progress assessment after one year. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from € 2325 per month in the first year to € 2972 in the fourth year. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School.
