Job description

Your role

You are contributing to our reputation for excellent research and teaching in our undergraduate, master and executive education programmes.

Your main tasks

·        Conduct research of high-quality to be submitted to top journals in the field (Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, JFQA and Review of Finance) or in management (Management Science).

·        Attend seminars and conferences.

·        Build an international network and gain visibility in the field

·        Develop teaching skills by obtaining a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) during the first three years of the tenure track. 

·        Engage in teaching innovation and teach courses in our bachelor and master programmes.

·        To teach in executive education (MBA, Executive MBA, open and custom programmes) in the second half of the tenure track.

·        Contribute to a collegial atmosphere in the department and take new initiatives.

Requirements

Required qualifications

You should have a Ph.D. degree, or expect to complete a Ph.D. in the near future and should demonstrate the potential for outstanding achievements in research and teaching. You should have a good command of the English language. 

Your required competences

You have well-developed analytical, communication and social competences.

We offer

Appointments at the assistant professor level are six-year tenure-track positions. The mid-term evaluation takes place three years into the contract and the tenure and promotion decision is made five years into the tenure track. The compensation package is competitive at the European level and offers attractive employment conditions, including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, holiday allowance of 8 per cent, extensive leave facilities for a healthy work-life balance (41 days a year based on a 40-hour work week), and a good pension fund. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.

 

RSM Finance has access to excellent facilities, including most major databases (WRDS, CRSP, Compustat, Datastream, Bloomberg, I/B/E/S, Thomson One, TAQ, etc.) and a modern building with great views of the city of Rotterdam. Rotterdam is a pleasant and lively harbor city with 600,000 inhabitants located in the west of the Netherlands that provides attractive living conditions for international faculty. The use of English in daily life poses no problem and air, road, and railway connections with major European and U.S. cities are excellent. The standards of healthcare and education in the Netherlands are high, while the costs are low relative to Anglo-Saxon countries.
