Join Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) and Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) in this pivotal role as Information Management Education to help guide our educational digitalization and to support our ambitious strategies towards our educational strategy.

Job description

As the Information Manager Education, you will help our faculty provide top transformative education, consult with the Deans of Education and provide digital leadership for our education support departments.

In your first year, you will report to the RSM Director of Information Management & Consulting and Director of Operations of ESE. You operate on an equal basis in both faculties. You will be accountable for the information provisions among the faculties within the Education domain and you will be responsible for the information management strategy and planning on a tactical and strategic level. You are also accountable for the realisation of the information assets and will represent ESE and RSM in the university wide Information Management Domain Team for Education.

You will work together with the Information Managers Research and Operations to ensure an integral view on RSM and ESE information strategy.

After this first year, you will have achieved an understanding of both faculties, the university wide governance and our two cultures. In your second year, the role will be expanded within ESE and you will become the coordinator for all I-professionals within ESE, reporting to the ESE Director of Operations and continue to represent both faculties as Information Manager Education.

Your main activities on a guiding level:

  • Develop and formulate the information strategy and policy, as a coherent part of the faculty strategies
  • Coordinate the realisation of the information plan and architecture, in collaboration with EUR Information and Process Architects
  • Analyse external and internal developments (compliance, technology, operations) and translate these developments to consequences for the information provisions within the faculties and university
  • Formulate requirements for the organization of information provision and information management
  • Ensure an adequate design of the business information management organization
  • Formulate the policy towards external and internal suppliers to support the demand and service managers

And on a steering level:

  • Ensure an optimal fit between RSM/ESE education and educational processes and the supporting information provisions
  • Analyse, assess, and prioritise EUR projects for decision making within the EUR Project Portfolio Board
  • Coordinate the inventory of the information needs of RSM/ESE education departments or services and the translation thereof into concrete projects
  • Have preliminary investigations carried out and have business cases drawn up and assessed
  • Ensure adequate support from the business in the implementation of new/changed information provision

In the second year, we expect you to:

  • Coordinate the business information management organization within ESE
  • Help steer Business Consultants, Application Managers, Demand Managers and other I-professionals
  • Management of suppliers: Advise on the drafting of contracts and SLAs and monitor their implementation in collaboration with demand managers and EUR Purchasing
  • Draw up and submit the annual budget for investments in the provision of information and monitoring the budget expenditure within ESE
  • Have progress reports (results and resources/capacity) drawn up on the implementation of the information plan and individual projects

General

  • Academic working level
  • Multiple years of working experience in the area of Information Management, or on the interface between business and IT

Expertise

  • Knowledge of methods and standards in the field of business information management, information planning and information architecture
  • Knowledge of methods and standards in the field of project management (Prince2) and process-oriented working (ITIL, ASL, BiSL) and in the field of portfolio management
  • Knowledge of IT-sourcing
  • Experience with risk and value analysis

Organisational knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of the educational processes supported by the Information Provisions
  • Experience with and/or within Higher Education is a big plus

Skills and competencces

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong conceptual and strategic insights
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • System and process thinking
  • Fluency (C1) in Dutch and English, both in writing and speaking

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with possibility of permanent position.

We offer a full-time job (4 or 5 days a week) in which you are part of our top business school and prestigious university in Rotterdam. You will work closely with all parts of the School, on all levels.

The start date of this position is as soon as possible.

 The successful candidate will be offered a one year contract of 0.8-1.0 FTE with Erasmus University Rotterdam. This contract can, in case of positive assessment and unchanged organizational circumstances, be turned into a fixed employment contract. In accordance with the conditions applied at Erasmus University Rotterdam as indicated in the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO NU) of the Dutch universities, the salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience and is set at a maximum of CAO NU scale 11/12 with a minimum of €3.807, - and a maximum of €5.922, - gross per month, on a fulltime basis. In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal education budget, work-life balance coaches and more. Employees can also use EUR facilities, such as the Erasmus sports center and the University library.
