Job description

By teaching our Circular Economy elective this spring, you teach our master students how companies, governments and society as a whole may be transformed to become fully circular over the next decades. The students are in RSM's master programmes in Global Business & Sustainability, Management of Innovation and Supply Chain Management.

Circular economy is among our master students' key interests. That's why there is also the possibility to contribute more structurally to our teaching programmes in a part-time or full-time lecturer position while working together with teachers and researchers from the Business-Society Management department (B-SM) who are passionate about making business more sustainable.

Your main tasks
Your main role is to teach a 6 ECTS master elective about circular economy. Other tasks such as teaching other courses or supervising master theses are open to discussion.

Requirements

You must:
  • have (or expect to complete soon) a PhD in management, or a closely related field with a focus on sustainability, innovation management, industrial ecology, or closed-loop supply chain management.
  • demonstrate a potential for excellence in teaching
  • be able to teach in English
  • have a strong background and motivation in circular economy and sustainability
  • have professional experience in transforming companies to go circular (this is desirable)

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 months.

  • This position is offered by the Department of Business-Society Management, an academic department at RSM committed to building a better society through business.
  • You will be teaching in the master Global Business & Sustainability, which is ranked as the top programme in its field worldwide by Eduniversal (2021).
  • It is possible to teach the elective as a one-time, temporary position, but a more extensive lecturer position with potential for a lecturer tenure track is also open to discussion.
  • If Covid19 regulations allow, we aim to offer the elective on our campus in Rotterdam. Beyond that, both working from home or from the office are open to discussion.

  • The course starts in early May 2022, but late March 2022 is also negotiable. Your contract can start in March 2022 to allow for preparation.
  • The position is currently for the duration of the course, but a more extensive position is open to discussion.
  • The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU).
  • Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,846 gross per month (scale 10 CAO NU) up to a maximum of € 5,230 gross per month (scale 11 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
  • Favourable tax agreements may apply to applicants who are not from the Netherlands. Erasmus University Rotterdam has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
