Job description

RSM is embarking on a transformation of its two bachelor programmes; International Business Administration (in English), and Business Administration (in Dutch) in line with a new educational strategy of programmatic assessment. Your primary role is to support course coordinators in two key courses in these programmes as we start this innovation process: Introduction to Business, and Strategic Business Plan. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic lecturer or junior lecturer to help strengthen our teaching of business administration generally, and strategy and entrepreneurship specifically.

Your main tasks
Depending on your experience and abilities, your role may focus on supporting the primary process of teaching, or on supporting innovation in our assessment practices. Your tasks may therefore include:
  • assisting and supporting faculty by setting up, coordinating and maintaining courses in our learning management system.
  • teaching seminar sessions and lectures in existing courses in RSM's bachelor programmes
  • coaching students so they can excel in their bachelor theses and internships
  • coaching students so they can excel in their master theses
  • developing and implementing new assessment practices in the context of programmatic assessment.

Requirements

We welcome candidates with a Master or Ph.D. degree in Business Administration or a related field.

Your required competences
You are an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a proven record of teaching and/or coordinating university-level courses. You either have your University Teaching Qualification or are in the process of completing it. Candidates with a more senior profile have been responsible for large-scale educational innovation and/or expertise in programmatic assessment. You strive to provide high-quality content and constructive feedback and are conscientious and have good organisational skills. You are co-operative, willing to work with colleagues from different courses and programmes.

Since the position may require teaching in either our Dutch-language or international programmes, proficiency in Dutch and English is required.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years maximum.

The position should start in August or September 2022 (earlier is possible) and is initially funded for three years. The position is 0.8 - 1.0 FTE (30,4-38 hours).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,846 (scale 10 CAO NU) gross per month and up to a maximum of € 5,230 gross per month (scale 11 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.

Department

The department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship plays an important role in all major teaching programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, such as BSc Business Administration and BSc International Administration, MSc International Management/CEMS, and Executive MBA. The department is home to in the MSc Strategic Management and MSc Strategic Entrepreneurship. We aim to continuously develop and improve the courses we offer to actively align them with the changing business environment, and are research-driven in what we teach.

The department belongs to Europe's strongest Strategy departments in terms of research output and impact. It consists of over approximately 40 teachers and researchers, including about 10 PhD candidates. It has excellent contacts with national and multinational businesses, and has a number of internationally renowned professors. Education and research are focused on strategic management, global strategy, family business, individual and corporate entrepreneurship, co-operation and competition between companies, and strategic renewal.
