Job description

Join a large and diverse team of scholars that contributes to management research and practice in the field of SCM, through teaching, research and engagement.

Your main tasks
Redesigning bachelor education by improving assessment. Tasks include:
  • Course design and redesign, both in terms of substance and didactics. There's a special focus on the Analytical Decision Makers track which comprises three courses in Business Analytics in year 3 of the bachelor program, and on the Professional Development track in year 1 of the bachelor program.
  • Researching and introducing smart feedback mechanisms in courses. For example, introducing peer feedback to improve learning or developing automated grading methods for assignments (e.g. in R)
  • Collaborating with RSM's Learning and Innovation Team and scientific programmers
  • Optional: helping teachers of various courses at all levels in their delivery (e.g. giving lectures, developing tutorials or webcasts).

Requirements

You must:
  • have (or expect to complete soon) a PhD in statistics, econometrics, supply chain management, operations management, data science, computer science, industrial engineering or a closely related field
  • demonstrate a potential for excellence in teaching
  • be able to teach at an academic level in English (CEFR level C2), and in Dutch (CEFR level C2)
  • have a strong background in quantitative data analysis methods, such as econometrics, statistics, operation research
  • have completed University Teaching Qualification (BKO) or equivalent.
  • have a good working knowledge of current assessment methods in higher education.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years.

  • RSM is committed to being a research-led business school. It has seven academic departments with distinct focuses in terms of research and teaching. The department of TOM has a strong tradition in critically reviewing and improving analytical and empirical research methods, and mathematical modelling and simulation to use in its teaching. You will be part of a strong community of 90 researchers and lecturers, including more than 40 PhD students in business processes, SCM, and information systems.
  • SCM is one of three critical business transformations covered by the department and is focused on transforming the sector into sustainable global supply chains. The SCM section at RSM consists of some 50 faculty and PhD students.
  • We teach methodological and analytical courses in RSM's two bachelor programmes and several of its full-time and part-time master programmes. Our specialised MSc in Supply Chain Management is ranked among the best programmes in the world. The SCM section is one of the founding members of the MScBA in Business Analytics & Management.
  • The department is also involved in RSM's extensive range of post-experience education programmes including its MBA programmes.
  • Under normal circumstances the successful candidate will work on campus; restrictions due to Covid-19 may require working remotely using online teaching or blended learning (a combination of online and on-campus activities, with passive streaming of on-campus activities) until on-campus teaching resumes.   • The position is defined at the level of Lecturer, on a temporary basis (maximum three years).
