We’re looking for a senior business case writer, who can explain a technical subject in a non-technical way to students in an engaging style. Could this be you?

Job description

Working as a senior case writer at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) Case Development Centre (CDC) can be exciting and challenging. Here, you write about a broad variety of topics. Every case is a project. Paired with an academic supervisor for each case, you manage the project and work independently. From defining the case concept to producing the final work. You also keep track of work progress and communicate frequently with the CDC managing editor to ensure that a case will be delivered on time and with a high degree of quality.

Your main tasks
As a senior case writer, your job responsibilities include:
  • collaborating with faculty to design cases that serve various learning objectives
  • desk research (qualitative and quantitative) and field research (interviews)
  • writing and editing cases and teaching notes, including making exhibits and other integral parts
  • advising faculty on case usage and case development possibilities
  • giving case writing workshops
  • guiding staff, students and freelancers on how to properly write cases
  • designing the web presence of multimedia cases
  • writing summaries and promotional materials for new and existing cases
  • arranging for case release and monitoring case usage

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a versatile player who can cover topics from all RSM teaching areas which include but are not limited to - strategic management, entrepreneurship, marketing, business and society, technology and operations, organisation and personnel management, finance, accounting, and control.

Your required competencies
We expect you to:
  • write English efficiently and correctly (native speaker or near native-speaker level)
  • possess a degree in business management, economics or similar areas
  • have a good overview and understanding of current business and management issues
  • have strong analytical skills
  • have a feel for storytelling
  • have proven project management skills
  • be a swift learner and a good communicator
  • be flexible, adaptable and able to multitask and focus
  • be able to work in a team as well as independently
  • have a valid Dutch work permit
You're at an advantage when you have:
  • competency in the Dutch language
  • teaching experience
  • in-depth discipline about case writing or strong industry knowledge
  • experience in multimedia content development

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

The appointment is for four to five days a week, and the job category is Educational Development 3 (onderwijs ontwikkeling 3). The appointment is for one year with a possible extension for another year.

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,960 (scale 10 CAO NU) gross per month and up to a maximum of € 4,670 gross per month (scale10 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
