Job description

Inspire a new generation of leaders in innovation management by delivering and designing education that presents pioneering discoveries and develops the knowledge and capabilities to increase their chances of becoming mainstream. The successful candidate will be one who can excite students to use collaboration, creativity and learning for positive change.

Your main tasks
Your main role is teaching Bachelor and Master students in courses related to creativity and innovation. Besides teaching and coordinating existing courses, you develop new ones, and take over the supervision of Master theses on topics related to innovation management.

Depending on demand and on your aspirations, you might also teach MBA and executive programmes.

Your regular tasks include:
  • Course coordination, delivery, and review (including online, blended, and classroom lectures, assignments, and examinations)
  • Design and development of new courses, teaching activities, and teaching material
  • Supervision and assessment of assignments, final projects, and Bachelor or Master theses.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is expected to have the following qualifications:
  • A PhD (or planning to defend very soon) in management or a related field with a focus on creativity and/or innovation
  • A demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • An excellent English language proficiency; knowledge of Dutch language will be a plus
  • Familiarity with online education platforms such as Canvas and Zoom, and with designing techniques for successful blended learning activities
  • Experience in supervising and assessing Bachelor or Master theses
  • Completed (or willing to complete) a University Teaching Qualification (BKO).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months with possibility to extend by 2 more years in case of good performance.

This position is offered by the Innovation Management section of the department of Technology and Operations Management.

The Innovation Management section is one of three critical business areas covered by the department of Technology and Operations Management and is focused on developing strategies, structures, and processes to generate, select, and implement innovations. The section at RSM comprises around 20 faculty and PhD students. We teach our own Master programme, in two of RSM’s Bachelor programmes and several of RSM’s full-time and part-time Master and MBA programmes. Our specialised MSc in Innovation Management is among the top programmes of its kind in the world.

RSM has a dedicated Learning Innovation Team, which supports faculty in improving and innovating their courses and programmes. This is done by developing blended and online learning, overcoming educational challenges, (re)designing courses or programmes, and by faculty development activities.
