In the world of hospitality it is all about people and people management. Would you like to bring your expertise and contribute to the development of our students in this field?

Job description

The world of hospitality is in constant movement. More than ever, guests are looking for personalized experiences that are based on current developments in the world. Sustainability, technology, and hyper-personalization are shaping the future direction of the hotel industry.

In this dynamic context, hospitality remains a people business and therefore, HRM and Organisational Behaviour are important topics in our curriculum. They include: how to manage the employee journey, learning about leadership styles, managing team dynamics, diversity & inclusion, developing management skills, amongst which cross cultural management.

Besides a theoretical approach, much attention is paid to the practical application of this knowledge in various areas of hospitality management.

Together with your colleagues, you prepare talented students for the (international) hospitality world of today and tomorrow.

That’s why you feel at home at Hotel Management School Maastricht

You, experienced and internationally oriented, endorse the importance of good education and are driven to take ownership of the position as higher education lecturer. To students you are a source of inspiration and a role model; to colleagues you act as a team player, contributing to the education of the future generation of hotel managers.

At Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM) we have a strong community: our students not only study on our campus, they also live there during the first year of their studies and gain practical experience in the Teaching Hotel Chateau Bethlehem. You will be included in the HMSM community and stand for small-scale and intensive education. In addition to your passion for and knowledge of your own discipline, you contribute to the next step in hospitality, both to students and colleagues.

Your tasks

As a lecturer you will provide classes and workshops in both Dutch and English in the fields of Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour and Leadership within the context of hospitality management. Together with your colleagues you will contribute to the further development and digitization of the educational bachelor, especially in your field of expertise. You will also be involved in project assignments, in coaching our students in their study progress, in community building and in their professional development during their internships. This way, you help our students grow as professionals and as human beings and contribute to their future.
