The professorship will be embedded in the Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) and the School of Psychology and Artificial intelligence (PSKI), both part of the Faculty of Social Science at Radboud University. The goals of the Work, Health and Performance (WHP) research programme are both fundamental and applied. Our fundamental research goal is to increase our understanding of the relationships between work, health, and performance, and the underlying motivational, cognitive-affective and behavioural processes. Our applied research goal is to provide evidence-based guidelines to design healthy work, to prevent stress, burnout, and unhealthy behaviour, and to promote recovery, a healthy life style, motivation, and performance in the context of a prolonged working life. Our programme comprises two strongly interrelated research lines: ‘stress, fatigue and recovery’, and ‘motivation and performance’.

We are seeking a professor who will contribute to our current areas of research in the context of a prolonged working life, and who can further develop these domains in new directions: 1. advancing (fundamental) knowledge of the (reciprocal) relationships between work, health and performance, and the underlying processes; 2. contributing to the prevention of unhealthy behaviour (e.g. physical inactivity, sedentary work), and the promotion of health behaviour (e.g. exercise, recovery, sleep) through intervention and implementation research; 3. building up knowledge of the positive and negative impacts of 'modern working times' and 'new ways of working' on work behaviour, work/non-work balance, health and performance, and of promising intervention tools that contribute to healthy work and work environments.

With respect to teaching, the professorship has a multifaceted scope as the focus of work and organizational psychology is on three subdisciplines, that is, 1) work and health psychology, 2) personnel psychology (including HRM), and 3) organisational psychology, as well as on fundamental and applied research.

- a clear vision on the future of ground-breaking research on work and organisational psychology, particularly in the area of work, health and performance;
- a PhD degree in the Behavioural or Social Sciences;
- an outstanding track record in work and organisational psychology (or a strongly related field), as proven by international esteem, editorial positions in major journals, grants/fellowships obtained, and high impact publications in academic journals;
- excellent qualifications in quantitative research methodology;
- the ability to provide inspirational and high-quality teaching and experience with the coordination of courses and teaching programmes, as evidenced by a teaching certificate such as the BKO (University Teaching Qualification, UKO (Senior University Teaching Qualification), or comparable evidence of teaching exprience;
- proven strong record of supervising doctoral students to successful completion;
- proven management and executive qualities, necessary to be a successful group leader; the ability to motivate staff members and to work with a team in contributing to research and teaching;
- the ability to acquire external research funding;
- affinity and experience with knowledge dissemination and valorisation/societal impact;
- ability and willingness to conduct administrative and organisational tasks;
- an interdisciplinary attitude and strong orientation towards collaboration with other research groups and disciplines;
- excellent command of spoken and written Dutch (or the willingness to learn Dutch within two years) and an excellent command of spoken and written English, preferable at Cambridge Proficiency level C2;
- an academic philosophy and vision that matches Radboud University's mission statement.

The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. BSI is an accredited multidisciplinary behavioural research institute in which researchers collaborate across the boundaries of psychology, educational science and communication science. BSI has seven research programmes covering three main research themes: (1) development and learning; (2) psychopathology, health and well-being; and (3) social processes and communication. BSI conducts both fundamental and applied research. Our PhD students are trained at the BSI Graduate School (recognised by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, NWO). BSI has state-of-the-art research facilities for observational studies, experiments, eye tracking studies, neurobiological measurements, and behavioural measurements in both real and 3D virtual environments.
