The Department of Public Administration & Political Science at the Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) has an opening for a Full Professor of Empirical Political Science. As the selected candidate you are expected to play a leading role in continuing and expanding our top-quality teaching and research and provide academic leadership in an interdisciplinary academic environment. Your expertise is recognized in the field of empirical political science. More specifically, you display a successful track record in the fields of political institutions and/or political behaviour within and outside Europe.
Teaching
You will play a crucial role in the future development of the top-rated Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes in Political Science at NSM, particularly in the domain of representative government and (quantitative and qualitative) political science research methods. You are expected to demonstrate a solid commitment to maintaining the highest possible quality in teaching.
Research
As the Department seeks to develop further as an internationally renowned team of researchers, you will develop a long-term vision and associated strategy to promote the realization of this ambition. You are expected to develop, together with the researchers within Comparative Politics, a centre of expertise in representative government. You have an excellent track record in securing research funding and have successfully supervised postdocs and PhD candidates. You have access to a relevant (inter)national network that will bring the realization of the department’s long-term research ambitions closer.
Impact on society
NSM is committed to contributing to society through critical (but impartial) reflection, by offering new perspectives and providing sound academic knowledge. As an academic, you are expected to develop a high profile in public debates, and to establish and maintain ties with relevant stakeholders.
Management
You will lead a group of 10-15 academic scholars.
