Job description

As a Project Coordinator Innovation at EDLAB you will be coordinating and facilitating education innovation projects and organise activities that support the quality of education at Maastricht University (UM). Your work will address themes related to UM education such as PBL, instructional design, self-regulated learning, assessment and international classroom.

 Tasks

  • Coordination and assistance in EDLAB’s education innovation projects.

  • Organise events and activities for the UM community.

  • Connecting UM staff involved in education innovation.

  • Aggregation of UM education innovation topics, educational needs and translation thereof into EDLAB activities.

  • Manage contacts with EDLAB student-assistants.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Master’s degree.

  • Project-coordination experience in an institution or governing body for higher education.

  • Familiarity with PBL.

  • Passion for higher education.

  • Ability to engage people, search for commitment and collaborate.

  • Organisational skills: keep overview with a broad variety of tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken).

Practical education experience (teaching, curriculum or instructional design) is considered to be an advantage.

Competences

A proactive, pragmatic and self-steering work attitude, a sense of urgency, tact and diplomacy, time management skills, and the ability to perform under pressure and prioritise;

  • Experience with working in a dynamic and international environment.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

 

 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months; extension for 1 year is possible.

The position is initially offered for 1 year and subject to a trial period of 2 months, a performance evaluation and developments at EDLAB. The position is eligible for extension if 1 year. The salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and work experience. The salary will be set in scale 9 of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities, with an expected minimum of € 2.709,00 and maximum of scale 10 € 4.084,00 for a full-time position of 38 hours/week. In addition there is an 8% holiday and 8.3% year-end allowance. Non-Dutch applicants may be eligible for favourable tax treatment (’30 %’rule).

EDLAB is the Maastricht University institute for education innovation and promotes an optimal learning experience for students of Maastricht University, by advancing the field of teaching and learning for both students and staff. It was founded in April 2015 and is located at the Tapijn barracks in Maastricht.

Within Maastricht University (UM), EDLAB’s main role is to engage students and staff with education innovation and educational quality. The institute’s structure is based on three main pillars and aims to meet the ever-increasing demand of students and staff to develop and effectively implement innovations in education. Pillar 1 ‘Education Innovation’ develops and coordinates UM-wide projects and pilots, promotes experimentation and facilitates implementation of new educational concepts. Pillar 2 ‘Excellence Education’ centrally coordinates Maastricht University’s excellence programmes PREMIUM, MaRBLe and Honours+. Pillar 3 ‘Educational Services’ supports initiatives and programmes that foster staff development and teacher professionalisation. Furthermore, EDLAB coordinates large (research) projects on student centered-learning and student engagement.

EDLAB consists of a core-team that coordinates the three pillars and all related activities. The institute connects with the UM faculties through faculty-liaisons who work part-time at EDLAB. All EDLAB members have a passion for education and draw energy from working in an international environment with students.

EDLAB has a central position within the university and is headed by UM Vice-Rector Education Harm Hospers.
