Job position

We are seeking an Assistant Director Alumni Relations who will manage a team of three Alumni Managers. The Assistant Director Alumni Relations will be responsible for the development and implementation of engagement services and activities including their own relationship management portfolio in support of RSM’s Alumni community and other supporters. Working closely with  the Director Corporate & Alumni Relations, and programme leads for events, communications, and data management, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a high quality engagement programme and volunteer management for a global alumni community of 36,000 and in support of the strategic priorities and mission of RSM. This role is based in Rotterdam and the Assistant Director reports to the Director Corporate & Alumni Relations.

Your main tasks

Tasks are varied, extensive and timely. They will include but are not limited to:

  • Development and delivery of key projects which ensure continuous improvement of the alumni engagement plan including alumni benefits, customer service, data quality, relationship management and effective process and policy development. 
  • Assistance in the preparation of the annual Alumni Strategy Plan including budget.
  • Together with the Director CAR, development of a strategic plan, KPI’s and metrics for the delivery of alumni and supporter engagement programmes.
  • Development of alumni services in a manner that is customer focussed, rewarding and recognised.
  • Working with the Director CAR and Alumni Managers to ensure the development and delivery of programmes.
  • Working closely with all internal stakeholders including faculty, Careers, Recruitment & Admissions Offices and Executive Education Offices.
  • Management of relationships with key alumni and supporters to develop and retain rewarding and productive connections, which are mutually beneficial.

  • Confident and able to express ideas and points of view thoughtfully and persuasively;

  • Meticulous about the details and thorough; completes tasks and follows up;
  • Resourceful and relentless in trying to find a solution;
  • Able to function effectively as a part of a  highly-aligned team with multiple priorities;
  • Willing to travel and work outside normal office hours.

Required qualifications

You will be considered for this position only if you have:

  • At least five years of experience in an alumni management position of an alumni relations department within an international working environment or of a similar engagement programme with a  corporate, commercial organisation or charity;
  • A solid understanding of university advancement programmes;
  • Excellent people management skills;
  • A proven track record of delivering successful engagement programmes organisational change projects;
  • Written and spoken fluency in English.

The salary range for this specific position is € 4.300 - € 5.000 (scale 17) on a full-time basis. This will be decided based on your education and working experience. Part of the remuneration package is an end-of-year bonus. RSM BV also has excellent secondary benefits including a fully paid pension, and 25 vacation days plus 12 ADV days.
