We are looking for a full-time research scientist, to provide support for the research in the Developmental Biology Division at Utrecht University. We study the regulation of cell division and the control of the spatial organisation of cells using the nematode C. elegans as a model system. Our research employs a combination of in vivo, systems biology, and biochemistry approaches, and relies heavily on the use of state-of-the-art microscopy.
Responsibilities
You will provide broad support for the research performed in our division. Main tasks include:
The successful candidate has his/her heart set on a career in science, without necessarily desiring to fulfill the administrative obligations that come with running a research group. The Faculty of Science consists of six Departments: Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Information and Computing Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry and Mathematics. The Faculty is home to 5,600 students and nearly 1,500 staff and is internationally renowned for the quality of its research. The Faculty's academic programmes reflect developments in today's society. Read the overall impression 2016 of the Faculty of Science.
Developmental Biology is part of the Institute of Biodynamics and Biocomplexity (IBB) of the Biology Department. Our research focuses on studying biological principles in the context of a living, developing organisms: the nematode C. elegans. Several groups work in close collaboration, providing critical mass and a vibrant atmosphere with many national and international contacts. For more information, please visit our website.
