We are looking for an Assistant Professor in European Economic Law. Depending on your profile, you will be teaching both in Bachelor courses covering EU (Economic) Law and within the Law & Economics Master's programme at Utrecht University's Law School. Your responsibilities will include supervision of Master’s and Bachelor theses and coordination and tutoring tasks.

An ideal candidate would have knowledge of European financial market regulation and banking law; sound knowledge of European competition law is a plus. The emphasis of this position will be on teaching, but research, especially for candidates with a strong research profile, is possible.

We are looking for a lawyer with sound knowledge of European Law and European Economic Law, who meets the following requirements:

• you have a PhD in Law;
• you have strong academic teaching skills. You have your BKO (Basic Teaching Qualification) or you are willing to obtain it;
• you have strong research skills and are willing to pursue research leading to publications that are internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigor;
• you are highly organized and have strong interpersonal skills;
• you have an excellent command of written and spoken English;
• you are proficient in Dutch, or willing to learn Dutch as a professional working language.

We offer a temporary position (1.0 FTE) for two years. The starting date is not later than January 1, 2019 and an earlier start would be preferred. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €3,545 and €4,852 (scale 11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 % per year. The position of Assistant Professor of European Economic Law is situated within the group of Public Economic Law, headed by the Chair of Competition Law Prof. Anna Gerbrandy. This group is part of the larger Department of International and European Law and consists of an international group of academics, involved in various research groups and in teaching in different Master's programmes offered by the School of Law.
