Job description

The Department of Organization Studies at the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB) invites applications for a, preferably advanced, tenure track assistant professor in Organization Studies to begin no later than September 2019.

Research in the department focuses on relations within and between organizations and their effects on organizations’ adaptive behavior (e.g., organizational learning, change, innovation, etc.) and wider society, while employing a variety of theoretical perspectives and research methodologies. Specific topics of interest include the following: intra- and inter-organizational networks, entrepreneurship, learning and innovation, temporary organizations, and international organizations. The department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications in leading journals. Our faculty publish in e.g. Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, Organization Science, Organization Studies and Journal of Management. The department’s research program is part of TSB’s Herbert Simon Research Institute. Within the Herbert Simon Research Institute, the Department of Organization Studies also participates in the cross-cutting and multidisciplinary theme ‘Adaptive societies, organizations, and workers’.

Requirements

Candidates for this position must have completed a doctorate and if possible some years of post-doc experience. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality research and teaching. They preferably already have a proven track record of international, peer-reviewed publications, or at least a good pipeline of (submitted) papers, and good teaching evaluations. We are particularly interested in scholars who are willing to work in a multidisciplinary social science environment, and have experience in teaching and performing research in the field of Organization Studies. More specifically, we are interested in scholars who have experience in topics such as (macro-)strategy and institutions (including corporate social responsibility, sustainability, strategic decision-making, etc.), as well as international (project) management. Candidates should also be willing to write grant proposals for prestigious granting institutions (e.g., Dutch National Scientific Foundation (NWO), European Research Council (ERC)).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 year fixed term contract with the possibility of tenure thereafter.

For the tenure track position there is a 5 year fixed term contract with the possibility of tenure thereafter. Note that under certain conditions there is a possibility to enter a fast-track tenure procedure. Start date: September 2019 at the latest.

The full-time gross salary ranges between € 3637 and € 4978 per month (not including various allowances). Employees from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary. Tilburg University is an equal opportunity employer.
