Job description

In cancer research, the modulation of the tumor micro-environment (TME) has gained a forefront position. Recent studies have demonstrated that diagnosis and therapy selection for cancer patients may benefit significantly from the discovery and validation of changes in TME, in particular those that are related to immune evasion. At Erasmus MC Cancer Institute, we start a TME Screening Center including state-of-the art equipment, such as a Vectra 3.0, to deliver highly multiplexed in situ staining together with computer-guided quantification. This set up enables comprehensive analysis of density and spatial distribution of stromal cells, including different immune cells. The TME Screening Center covers studies into multiple types of tumors and therapies, is part of an integrative workflow including genomic and imaging analyses, and is supported by the Stichting Daniel den Hoed. In this project, multiplex stainings and their analyses are optimized and tested according to specific research questions using tumor tissues of large patient cohorts with known treatment history and clinical follow-up. In addition to a postdoctoral fellow, the center will also include experienced technicians.
