Job description

The Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies of the Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applicants for an assistant professor position inMethodology and Statistics. As an assistant professor in Methodology and Statistics (M&S) you will contribute to teaching (60%) as well as research (40%) in the section of M&S of the department.

The section of M&S consists of ten colleagues ranging from PhD candidates to assistant, associate and full Professors. Together they coordinate and teach the statistics courses in the Bachelor and Master programmes of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences. You will contribute to the teaching of these courses in cooperation with your M&S colleagues. Because the courses are taught to Dutch and international students, it is important that you have the ability to communicate in English orally and in written form at C1 level. You will also contribute to the research program of the section, which is mainly focused on the application and development of methodology and statistical techniques to psychology, education studies, and child studies.

In accordance to the Faculty standards, you will be required to publish in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed academic journals in the area of methodology and (applied) statistics, acquire research funding and disseminate scientific knowledge.

Requirements

  • You have a PhD in statistics, psychological methods, psychometrics or a related field;
  • You have high quality scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • You have experience in carrying out scientific research independently;
  • You have experience in acquiring research grants;
  • You have excellent didactic skills and relevant teaching experience at academic level;
  • You are in possession of a Basic Qualification Teaching (BKO) or you are willing to achieve this qualification.
  • You have excellent written and oral skills both in Dutch and English.

Conditions of employment

The conditions of employment comply with the CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/ Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU). Salary is subject to know-how and experience and corresponds to scale 11/12 CAO NU, which is between € 3.475,- and € 5.405,-  gross per month on a full-time basis (38 hour per week), excluding holiday allowance of 8% and end-of-year bonus of 8.3% of the annual salary.
