Job description
In this position you will contribute to a smooth and successful submission, implementation and management of externally funded research projects, in close co-operation with the project leader and the other members of RSM’s Funding Team. You will be responsible for submitting and implementing (international) projects, including organising project meetings, project administration, the development of communications materials, and reporting. You report to and fall under the direct responsibility of the RSM Project Desk, but also work closely together with the Director of Grants Development.
As a funding officer, you are expected to:
give constructive feedback on draft proposals in order to prepare a well-structured high-quality application that stands out
liaise with internal (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and external (industrial) partners to make sure that European co-operation projects are well-balanced and in line with call objectives
pro-actively disseminate funding information to RSM researchers by means of workshops, seminars and newsletters
maintain the administration and registration of funding applications in order to provide relevant management information to RSM’s Executive Board.
At the same time, your project management tasks will include:
acting as the contact point for funding institutions, partner organisations and stakeholders in project implementation
facilitate communication within the project consortium, organise and arrange logistics for meetings of consortium bodies, take minutes and co-ordinate the follow-up of action points
to monitor and report on the scientific and administrative milestones and deliverables of the project
to co-ordinate, monitor and improve the reporting processes and ensure timely and up-to-date project reporting
organising, arranging logistics and attending project dissemination activities such as seminars, workshops and conferences
edit and contribute to funded projects’ websites and other communication materials
monitoring the budget for the project activities, track expenses and advise the scientific project leader
maintaining an electronic and paper project file according to funding regulation and keep shared consortium document systems up-to-date
to represent RSM, including taking part in relevant discussions, such as funding team meetings.
Required qualifications
an academic background (MSc level)
multi-year experience in research project management in the European Framework (FP7, H2020) and Dutch national funding programmes (such as NWO schemes)
excellent knowledge of (financial) rules and procedures of both national and European funding programmes
excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in Dutch and English (CEFR C1)
a willingness to work flexibly, to meet tight deadlines and to travel abroad occasionally
excellent planning skills, with experience in applying these in a complex and dynamic (international) context
a keen interest in academic and scientific research, and ability to link research topics with funding opportunities
ability to function well under stress when multiple applications need to be submitted for a specific deadline.

Fixed-term contract: Temporary, 1 Year with the possibility of extension.
Employment conditions
The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 3,475 gross per month and up to a maximum of € 4,757 gross per month (scale 11 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
