The Computational Science & Numerical Mathematics (CSNM) group at the Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science of the Faculty of Science and Engineering has a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in Computational Fluid Dynamics. CSNM offers excellent opportunities for conducting research in the broad interdisciplinary area between computational mathematics and its applications in fluid dynamics. We seek a postdoc with a high potential for going on to tenure (track) positions in academia. Preferably he/she will contribute to our research line Computational Models for Turbulence.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in the relevant field (applied mathematics, science or engineering) and should have a strong background in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Candidates with expertise in turbulence have a clear advantage and are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent research qualities, as evidenced by a PhD thesis and by a publication record in international peer-reviewed journals and renowned conferences. You should be able to manage your own workload, working both independently and as part of a team as required. You are curious, creative and have a high level of enthusiasm for the development of further research opportunities.

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

The University of Groningen offers a monthly salary dependent on qualifications and work experience from € 3,111 (salary scale 10, step 4 Dutch Universities) up to a maximum of € 4,084 gross per month on a full-time basis (Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities). The appointment is temporary for a period of one year with the perspective of prolongation with one additional year subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding.
