Job description

Probing mechanical forces in polymeric materials and hydrogels is of high importance to obtain detailed insight in the mechanisms behind their mechanical failure, and for the interaction of living cells with. To this end we will develop ultrasensitive probes that respond to force with the emission of light. The intended probes will be used to measure forces in hydrogels with applications as host matrix for tissue engineering. Previous work: DOI: 10.1126/science.1248494
