TropIQ Health Sciences is looking for a talented postdoctoral fellow to join our dynamic group of scientists focused on the discovery of new interventions for mosquito-borne infectious diseases. The fellow will support the 'TropInhi' project executed in collaboration with Radboud University, Radboud University Medical Center and Protinhi Therapeutics. Within the framework of this project, the fellow will focus on the discovery of novel chemical molecules that interrupt pathogen transmission between the human and the mosquito host. The fellowship has a duration of 2.5 years.
Tasks and responsibilities
The project aims at identifying new inhibitors to interrupt transmission of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika and malaria. The fellow will design experimental strategies to assess pathogen life cycle progression in the two host systems and establish high throughput screens of chemical libraries to identify novel inhibitors. For resulting compounds we will work with the project partners to understand their structure-activity relationship and to improve potency and selectivity. The fellow will be responsible for design and execution of the experimental work and reporting of project progress both internally as well as to the project partners. The fellow may be co-inventor on patents related to their work.
