Job description

Studies in ERIBA are aimed at elucidating the mechanisms of ageing and age-associated diseases using state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure. The goal of studies within ERIBA is to discover novel mechanisms explaining the loss of cells and the functional decline in cells and tissues with age, as well as the connection between various mechanisms of ageing that have been proposed. These mechanisms include (but are not limited to): changes in mitochondrial function and metabolism; deregulation of cell cycle checkpoints and defective DNA repair; telomere attrition and loss of genome integrity; epigenetic damage and aberrant expression of genes and retroelements; cellular senescence and chronic inflammation; and defects in protein production, quality control and function.
