We have a position for the chair of Epidemiology of Tropical Infectious Diseases. The new chair holder is asked to bridge the gap between research activities on tropical infectious diseases at the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences (RHIS) en the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS). In general terms, the chair aims to facilitate the downstream application of basic and translational research conducted at Radboudumc in the field of infectious diseases by providing methodological support for clinical and epidemiological studies and, at the same time, fuel basic research with insights obtained from studies in disease endemic countries.
In this context, the chair holder will play a leading role at the malaria technology facility at Radboudumc to ensure it continues to meet research demands of the many research groups that benefit from parasite and mosquito culture facilities. The chair holder will lead and coordinate research activities both at Radboudumc and in endemic settings, with the aim to understand malaria transmission biology and epidemiology and develop and implement malaria interventions that aim to reduce the burden of malaria up to its ultimate elimination.

Within Radboudumc, the academic group will be positioned to thrive within the existing networks of the Radboud Center for Infectious Diseases. The academic group will build upon the infrastructure that was already created whilst explicitly aiming to strengthen and broaden the critical mass supporting and utilizing malaria technology infrastructure. The malaria technology facility forms an integral part of many research activities at the departments of Medical Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Dermatology and Internal Medicine and the user group will expand considerably once activities are expanded to other vector borne diseases.
