Job description

The Integrated Circuit Design group at the University of Twente focuses on analog and mixed-signal design, where one of the focusses is on transceivers. The research for this vacancy is part of a research project in close cooperation with NXP Semiconductors.

This project aims at developing very efficient RF power amplifiers for 5G-type applications. The type of applications implies that also insertion phase and load pull effects are of prime concern in this project. To be able to reach sufficient performance levels and power efficiency levels across lifetime, possibly self-healing approaches or pre-distortion will be used. In the case of digital pre-distorion of digital control, efficiency issues in the digital part must be taken into account. System simulations, analog/mixed signal and RF circuit design, IC design and RF measurements are the main parts of the PhD work. Additionally, you are expected to assist in the ICD group's teaching activities.
