Job description

For a project between the Netherlands and India, dealing with the development of minimally-invasive technologies for Affordable Health, we are looking for an excellent candidate for a PhD position. The research involves designing, developing and testing advanced instrumentation for Photoacoustic/Ultrasound imaging via percutaneous needles. The position offers the opportunity for translational research in close collaboration with clinical partners in the Netherlands and in India. The research involves performing modelling of light and ultrasound propagation through soft-tissue; setting up experiments with strong technical-physics content involving light and ultrasound; developing instrumentation for imaging; performing validation experiments on phantoms, and ultimately on patient material.

You will be part of the Biomedical Photonic Imaging group of the University of Twente, which is running the project. You are expected to perform research of high quality, and contribute to making the project a success. You are expected to report on your research in international scientific journals, which will form the basis of your PhD thesis.
