Job description

The main task is to generate sea level projections with emphasis on the Maldives and French Polynesia. Projections will be performed with a stochastical tool, SEAWISE developed at IMAU and improved during this project. It combines the various components, which are based on climate output data. The project is carried out within a European consortium aiming to develop climate services for coastal adaptation. Close collaboration with the other partners in the project will be needed.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a degree in (geo)-physics, atmospheric sciences or related natural sciences. First authored peer reviewed papers and experience in statistics and programming skills are a prerequisite.

Conditions of employment

The candidate is offered a full-time position for an initial period of 1 year which, after a satisfactory first period, will be extended by another 2 years.

 
The gross salary, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and work experience, is in the range between €3,111 and maximum €4,757 (scale 10/11 Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment.

The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities. The Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research Utrecht (IMAU) is an interfaculty research institute that focuses on the fundamental aspects of the climate system.
