Job description

At the section of Health Economics & Health Technology Assessment we are searching for a postdoc researcher in the field of cost-effectiveness research. This postdoc researcher will consult colleagues on the design and conduct of cost-effectiveness studies, and assist in/perform the analysis and interpretation of such studies. He/she will participate in a large methodological project aimed at developing new methods for the analysis of routinely collected cost-effectiveness data. In addition, the postdoc will participate in the further development of a research group on the methods of cost-effectiveness studies by writing grant applications as main applicant. Finally, the postdoc researcher will participate in courses at the BSc, MSc and postgraduate levels, and supervise research internships by BSc and MSc students Health Sciences.

Requirements

• PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Econometrics or Biostatistics or a closely related discipline;
• Demonstrable expertise in the field of cost-effectiveness research;
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (Dutch is a pre);   
• In possession of or prepared to obtain the University Teaching Qualification;
• Eager to participate in teaching activities;
• Good knowledge of statistical software such as R and Stata is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

The appointment will be initially for 1 year. After satisfactory evaluation of the initial appointment, it can be extended for a total duration of 4 years. Information about our excellent fringe benefits of employment can be found at www.workingatvu.nl and includes:
• Remuneration of 8,3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday allowance;
• A minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment;
• Generous contribution (65%) commuting allowance based on public transport.

The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel, and ranges from a minimum of € 3238,00 Euro gross per month up to a maximum of € 4084,00 Euro gross per month (salary scale 10.5 – 10.12 CAO NU) based on fulltime employment.

The section of Health Economics & Health Technology Assessment we perform and assist in the conduct of cost-effectiveness studies mainly in the field of mental health, musculoskeletal health, nutrition and lifestyle, but we are also involved in other research projects conducted at the VUmc.
In addition, we are involved in research projects to improve the use of statistical methods within cost-effectiveness studies and to develop new methods.
