Job description

Within the chair group Nutrition and Disease of the Division of Human Nutrition, the research line Nutrition and Cardiovascular Disease (head: Prof. dr. Marianne Geleijnse) focusses on the role of foods and nutrients in the circulatory system. Scientific studies include clinical endpoints (e.g. coronary heart disease, stroke, mortality) and cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. blood pressure, blood lipids, diabetes). Types of research include advanced epidemiological analyses and randomized controlled trials in high-risk individuals. Education is offered to BSc and MSc students as part of the programme Nutrition and Health, including courses in epidemiological concepts, study design and the pathophysiology of cardiometabolic disorders. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher (0.8 fte) who will advance research and education in this field. Core tasks of the candidate will be initiating and conducting research, which includes acquisition and publication, and supervising MSc thesis projects in the domain of cardiovascular health.

Requirements

The candidate should have a PhD degree in a biomedical discipline and ample research experience in the field of nutrition and cardiovascular health. She/he should have excellent communication skills in English, both orally and in writing. She/he should have a track record of scientific publications in the cardiovascular domain. Experience with grant writing is a plus.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary position for 1 year, with a working time of 32 hours per week (0.8 fte). If the candidate is successful in acquisition, extension will be considered. Gross salary € 3954,00 maximum per month.
