The Sociology of Consumption and Households of group Wageningen University is looking for an ambitious and talented lecturer with a background in Sociology (or a related discipline) and / or consumer studies. The lecturer should be specialized in Sociology of Consumption. As lecturer you will contribute to the group's teaching activities mainly in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes on consumer studies but also in the programmes on health and society. We prefer a candidate who is skilled in teaching large and small groups of students, and who has experience in supervising individual students. Depending on the background of the candidate there might be room for joint collaborative research endeavours.

• hold a degree in sociology, consumer studies or another relevant social science discipline

• be willing to contribute to general tasks and activities of the chair group
• have excellent command of English and be able to speak or willing to learn Dutch.

We offer:
We offer a temporary contract for two years (0,8/1,0 fte). The maximum gross salary is between € 2588 - € 4084 per month (based on fulltime employment and experience), (scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities). In addition, we offer a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-the-year bonus of 8.3% of your annual salary.

The Sociology of Consumption and Households group at Wageningen University and Research focusses on social inequalities in food (consumption), health and care. The world faces major challenges to realize the Sustainable Development Goals: decreasing poverty, ensuring healthy lives, and achieving food security and improved nutrition, amongst others. Despite considerable progress in global well-being, stark inequalities remain extant. The SCH group's vision is to understand how well-being is produced and distributed in households; who is at risk of poverty, malnutrition, and lack of care, how and why this is the case, and what solutions may be envisaged to improve well-being.

The mission of SCH is to research and educate on the processes, causes and consequences of social inequalities in (food) consumption, care, and health practices in Western and non-Western societies. In our research, the meso-level of the household, or family, as the arena of everyday life is central. Our research adopts both an intergenerational perspective, in its concern with how advantage and disadvantage is transmitted between generations, and an intragenerational perspective, focusing on the life course and human development. Much of our work is comparative in nature, across time and space, allowing us to explore the impact of different institutional, socioeconomic, and cultural environments on the processes that generate social inequalities.

We are embedded in the department of Social Sciences of Wageningen University and Research. The department provides fundamental research and academic education in order to understand social processes with regard to today's global challenges of disparities and poverty, of responsible production and consumption, of natural resource use and the environment, as well as of knowledge in society.
