Job description

We are looking for a lecturer that has affinity with Food and Chemical Engineering. Our ideal candidate has gained industrial experience in the Food industry and should be able to share his knowledge and industrial experience with bachelor students and team members. 
The candidate should be able to lecture fundamental Food and Chemical Engineering subjects such as Transport phenomena (momentum, heat and mass transfer), thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, unit operations, material science and technology, process and product design.
You will have the opportunity to work in an international environment of the Process & Food Technology (PFT) programme where we welcome the knowledge and industrial experience in process and product development. You will work with team members on integrating industrial insights in the development and implementation of the new futureproof curriculum 2020/2021 for our students. Our programme embraces the educational model CDIO with a total concept of innovative project-based learning.

In this position the candidate will be responsible for technical subject teaching (as well as the study and career coaching of our students. Furthermore, you will maintain and expand the (international) network that contributes positively to the programme educational development.

Your responsibilities include:

  • You will be training, coaching and contributing to the development of the (communicative) skills of our students of all levels in our programme;
  • You will be contributing to the development and organization of educational modules You will be supervising and assessing interns and graduates;
  • You will integrate industrial practice into educational modules.

  • You have at least a relevant Master Degree, for example food engineering, food science and technology, chemical engineering, material science and engineering;
  • You have relevant work experience, preferably in an international / corporate field; 
  • You have relevant educational experience, or you are prepared to get a teachers certificate;
  • You have good intercultural communication skills in English and you can easily deal with diversity of people and roles.

Conditions of employment

The international Process & Food Technology (PFT) programme is a growing bachelor programme consisting of 14 enthusiastic colleagues, each with their own area of expertise and with around 300 committed students from around the world. We educate students to become world citizens that can function excellently within an international work environment in the chemical- and food industry. The programme has a strong collaboration with the work field. Industrial partners are actively participating in all levels of the programme’s curriculum. The official language within the programme’s teaching and administration is English. The PFT programme is part of the faculty of Technology, Innovation and Society (TIS). This faculty provides academic education to over 4000 students of different technical bachelor programmes.

Apart from this, we offer the following:

  • A salary up to € 4.892,31 gross per month (scale 11) for a full-time work week, excluding 8% holiday pay. (The employment conditions are in keeping with the Collective Labour Agreement for higher professional education);
  • A full 13th month;
  • An appointment of 0,8 FTE, 32 hours per week in a temporary position starting per September or October 2019 for one year with the possibility of an extension;
  • An easily accessible work space The Hague, by both car (plenty of parking space) and train (next to the Holland Spoor station);
  • A large network and a dynamic environment among young, motivated international students and employees within the higher education in a metropolitan context, national and international.
