The Department of Organization Studies is looking for PhD student Organization Studies (fulltime, 48 month, as per September 2020)

Job description

The PhD candidate develops a research proposal that aligns with the broader theme ‘A new approach of Organizational Learning through Performance Feedback and Organizational Change’, focusing on temporal orientation as a boundary condition, and using serious gaming as a research approach. S/he drafts several related research questions that are firmly grounded in state-of-the-art theory and models. S/he develops research designs, and executes approved designs, incl. data acquisition, and statistical analyses. The PhD candidate writes at minimum three academic papers that are presented at conferences and submitted to scientific journals. Besides the research assignments, PhD students also teach a variety of work groups, and some lectures, mainly in the undergraduate programs offered by the Department of Organization Studies.

Requirements

  • You have a Master diploma in Social Sciences, and preferably a research master diploma in Social sciences.
  • Your academic education should have a clear relation to organization and/or management science, sociology or economics of organization, or any alternative academic background that is comparable, or having substantial overlap with aforementioned academic disciplines.
  • You are a conscientious, independent, creative, motivated, and curious scholar.
  • You have strong analytical skills, strong confidence and perseverance.
  • You are proactive and a “team player”.
  • You have high proficiency in oral and written communication, in English, if possible also in Dutch.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

The PhD candidate will be employed by Tilburg University, which is among the top of the Dutch employers and has an excellent policy concerning terms of employment. The appointments are intended to lead to the completion of a PhD thesis. The PhD appointment begins with a period of 12 months. Continuation of the appointment with another 36 months will be based on performance evaluation. The gross salary for the PhD position amounts € 2.325 per month in the first year, rising to € 2.972 per month in the fourth year, based on a full-time appointment (38 hours per week).
