Department of Medical MicrobiologyThe
Department of Medical Microbiology of the Radboud University Medical Center employs approximately 120 staff members for patient care, research and training, of which appr. 50 technicians work in the clinical microbiology laboratory.
Currently 10 consultant microbiologists with different areas of interest, including infection control, and two molecular microbiologists are employed by the department.
Infectious Diseases and Global Health are research priorities at Radboudumc. The applicant will benefit from the vibrant network at the Radboud Center for Infectious Diseases where a multidisciplinary group of researchers works on translational and basic research.
ResearchActivities within ABACUS II include multistakeholder meetings, co-creation of new design or generic oral antibiotics to improve recognition and use, and evaluation of the design. There is also a health economics component to this study. In collaboration with University of Oxford we will also simulate patients who buy antibiotics in private pharmacies in 2 Asian and 2 African countries and test the purchased drugs for drug concentration.
