A lab manager to join the team of SPRINT ('Speech Prosody in Interaction: The form and function of intonation in human communication'). This is a five-year project (October 2019 to September 2024) funded by the European Research Council (ERC) through grant no ERC-ADG-835263 to Prof. Amalia Arvaniti. SPRINT aims to investigate the phonetics, phonology and pragmatics of intonation in a number of varieties of English and Greek, examining both production and perception.
You will be a key contributor to SPRINT, providing a range of technical and administrative support for the project's PI (Prof. Arvaniti), postdoctoral researchers, and student assistants. Your duties will focus on preparatory work for experiments, help with data collection, the day-to-day running of the project, and assistance with the statistical and computational analysis of the data, and the visualisation of the results. In addition, you will provide essential administrative support (including but not limited to handling purchasing, participant payments, travel arrangements, and the financial aspects of workshop organisation); you will liaise with the Faculty's Senior Controller in fulfilling these duties, and handle financial reporting to the ERC.
You should be able to work independently, under the PI's direction, and as part of a team. You should be able to balance multiple project demands, enabling the SPRINT team to complete research according to the project's deadlines, while completing ongoing administrative and technical tasks to schedule. You will be expected to work independently for much of the time, but this need should be in balance with the need to collaborate and discuss progress with the PI and postdocs at weekly team meetings. The position requires different knowledge and skills as the project progresses; you will have to be adaptable to these demands of the project.
Fixed-term contract: fixed term contract until 30-09-2024.
