Job description

A 4-year Senior Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in our laboratory, starting early 2020, to study the role of virus-specific tissue-resident T-cells (Trm) involved in the control vs. pathogenesis of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infections in humans. The project will involve detailed analysis of the phenotype, antigen specificity and spatial orientation of HSV-1 reactive CD4 and CD8 Trm cells in trigeminal ganglia (immune control) and corneas (immunepathogenesis) of latently HSV-1-infected individuals.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a PhD degree in Immunology and be highly-motivated with strong quantitative research, organization and communication skills.
  • A strong track record of research accomplishments in T-cell Immunology, Molecular Biology and potentially scRNAseq is requested.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written is required.
  • The right applicant is able to work well both independently and within a team, at national and international levels.

Conditions of employment

The position is a unique 4-year fixed term contract, starting as soon as possible.The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 5.383,- (scale 11), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).

You will be appointed to the HerpesLab, led by Dr. Georges M. Verjans.
