Within the Research Support Office at the School of Business and Economics we are looking for a Research Policy Advisor (1.0 FTE). Starting date: As soon as possible (preferable 1st of March, 2022).

Job description

The Research Support Office (RSO) advises and supports the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE) Management Team regarding quality monitoring and assurance, generating management information and translating relevant developments into policy.

The RSO is also responsible for supporting PhD and Research Masters administration and support, and providing funding and project support to researchers and research groups.

The principle of continuous improvement is leading for all matters within the scope of the Research Support Office.

What will you do?

  • Provide policy advice, draft memos on new or changing (administrative) processes and specific projects as required;
  • Contribute to Research Accreditation reports;
  • Prepare decisions for GSBE MT (for instance related to the PhD pool and other policies);
  • Actively signal relevant developments and or needs and propose policy changes;
  • Actively contribute to the development of policies for the Graduate School regarding impact, quality of research, PhD trajectories, open science, visibility, research integrity, etc.;
  • Implement research related policies (incl. activities to create awareness, workshops, info sessions, training etc.);
  • Actively contribute develop and implement a tool for measuring (societal) impact;
  • Participate in relevant UM, national and international (Policy and Graduate School) networks;
  • Be the official secretary to the GSBE MT: on-time and correct provision of information, agenda management, monitoring follow-up of action points, communicating decisions;

Requirements

  • University degree and/or relevant experience in a similar role
  • PhD is an asset
  • Analytical capacity and performance
  • Previous experience in relevant policy areas is considered a strong asset
  • Pro-active, result oriented, efficient, strong planning skills and a structured approach
  • Ability to maintain an overview of various responsibilities
  • Integrity, a diplomatic attitude and a high level of personal effectiveness
  • Team player, good collaboration skills and organizational sensitivity
  • Excellent oral and written communication in Dutch and English
  • Affinity with academic research

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: One year, with the possibility of a permanent contract afterwards based on a mutual match and good performance.

We offer a 1.0 FTE appointment for the period of one year, with the possibility of a permanent contract afterwards based on a mutual match and good performance.

Remuneration will be according to salary scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, depending on education and relevant work experience. Within the framework of the university job structure, the position of Research Policy Advisor is placed within the category Policy Advisor 4 (Beleidsmedewerker 4). This implies a gross monthly salary between € 2.846,- and € 4.490,- gross per month (based on a full-time appointment).

Career opportunities in position and salary (beleidsmedewerker 3 within scale 11) are among the possibilities with proven suitability.

Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

Other secondary conditions include a pension scheme, extensive leave entitlements, commuting allowance, parental and partner leave, UM selection model and more.
